The Feline Society Meeting Minutes
A short piece about my cats
My three cats congregating for a Very Important Meeting.
The Feline Society recently convened on the thirteenth of July shortly before dinnertime. Nala presided over the gathering with all the presence her rotund architecture offered, perched at the top of the feline stairs and gazing down upon the attendees with a mixture of disdain and disgust. Her ideal scenario would have been if the Home contained insufficient feline residents to warrant having a Feline Society at all, but as this was unfortunately not to be, the torbie figured she might as well declare herself president to sit apart from the menial masses.
At the base of the stairs stood the other two attendees of the day’s gathering: Rudy, a black and brown tabby who, unlike Nala, possessed a length greater than his width; and Gronk, who from a distance might be mistaken for a cloud with ears. A closer examination of these lower members of the Society lent credence to Nala’s displeasure, for the corners of Rudy’s eyes leaked a greenish-yellow sticky substance, and Gronk’s tail contained vestiges of a liquid better confined to the litter box.
The first item on the agenda pertained to Red, the canine resident of the Home. All parties agreed that Red’s existence was not ideal due to his criminal behaviors such as culinary thievery, a charge which, as Rudy pointed out (with no supporting evidence), the felines have never been accused of ever in their lives. However, the question of how to address this problem remained unanswered, as one of the hominid residents of the Home had taken a great liking to Red. Gronk had devised a plan to overcome the hominid’s loyalty to the canine; he would target this hominid with bountiful affection, with the goal of displacing Red as the favored creature and resulting in the canine’s eventual eviction. Unfortunately, this psychological coup was stalled by Gronk’s tendency to dispense puddles of undesirable fluids around the Home, earning him a place on the weekly Naughty List and nearly leading to his own eviction.
The meeting was unceremoniously adjourned upon Gronk’s impulsive decision to ascend the stairs towards the presidential podium. Thoroughly offended by Gronk’s presence within one foot of her luscious and pristine fluff, Nala made an immediate exit, taking care not to allow even the tips of her fur to brush against the inferior felines. Rudy and Gronk watched blankly as they were abandoned; lacking any management capabilities themselves, they were unable to take on the mantle of their departed leader. Thus, the mid-July meeting of the Feline Society came to an abrupt end.
